With the design of Carmen reading light in 2001, Mario Ménez won the First Prize in the Markslöjd Light Prize Design Competition in Sweden.

The company that promotes the competition asked him to create a full collection of luminaries as well as create a totally new brand in the lighting business.

Together with the above assignments, the Swedish Group Vätterledens Invest AB proposed him a joint venture 50/50% to create a design company in Sweden called Mario Ménez Design.

Only in the last two years Mario Ménez has had more than 35 products in lighting successfully selling in more than 20 countries.

Since 2004, Mario owns 100% of Mario Ménez Design and the company is expanding to other areas besides lighting and strategic design.
